Glen Oak is an independent not-for-profit kindergarten (incorporated Association) managed by a volunteer Committee of Management, made up of parents from our kindergarten community.
Glen Oak Kindergarten was established in 2001 by a Parent Action Group and is located on the grounds of Glenroy Oak Park Baptist Church in Oak Park.
In 2026, we celebrated 25 years of continuous education to the preschoolers of Merri-bek city Council.

Working in collaboration with the teaching staff, the Committee oversees the day-to- day running of the kindergarten and works towards improving the facility.
The Committee is the manager of the service and employer of all staff. Each new Committee aims to build on the achievements of previous Committees, supporting our dedicated educators to provide our children with excellent pre-school experiences.
As a community-run kindergarten, we value the involvement of our parents and families. Your contribution, whether through volunteering, sharing ideas or serving on the Committee, helps strengthen our kindergarten and ensures it continues to thrive for future generations.
The Committee plays an integral role, with responsibilities that include:
1. General business and overall management of the Kindergarten;
2. Staffing, salaries and conditions of employment in accordance with the appropriate awards;
3. Working closely with staff to ensure that together we are providing a high quality education service;
4. Approving the purchasing of equipment and supplies;
5. Implementing Kindergarten policies;
6. Coordinating Fundraising.
The Committee of Management is elected by the parents at the Annual General Meeting held in November, and consists of the following positions, each of which is elected on an annual basis:
1. President
2. Vice President
3. Secretary
4. Treasurer
5. General Members

Committee meetings are held once a month from February to December, either online or in person at the kindergarten. This is where the day-to-day business and finances are managed. All discussions and decisions are treated as strictly Confidential.
Our Early Childhood Teachers attend committee meetings to provide updates on the kindergarten program and contribute to discussions around the ongoing management of the service. Working together as a team creates a positive and supportive learning environment for your child.
We welcome feedback, ideas and enquiries from all families. If you have any questions about the management of the kindergarten, please don’t hesitate to contact the Committee of Management.
If you are not able to join the Committee there are many other ways you can help, such as assisting with excursions, providing craft and recycled materials, supporting fundraising activities, participating in end of term clean ups and attending working bees.
The Kindergarten cannot function without a committee and involvement and support of our families.
EARLY LEARNING ASSOCIATION AUSTRALIA: Glen Oak Kindergarten is a member of Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA), which is a body set up to advice and assists Kindergarten Committees and deals directly with the State Government. ELAA aims to promote, sustain and develop Kindergarten education in Victoria.
Glen Oak Kindergarten has been an integral part of supporting children and families in our community since 2001.
The program and experiences we offer are made even richer through the involvement of our wider community.
We are incredibly grateful to the many local businesses who contribute to our kindergarten.
Their sponsorship and generosity towards our fundraising activities help us provide valuable resources and experiences for our children and assist us in achieving our educational goals.
