A warm welcome begins our day!
Our program provides an opportunity for children to participate and direct their own learning. Our activities are set up to pique the children’s curiosity and engagement.
We offer a combination of indoor and outdoor play, catering for all the levels of development in our group. Art activities, sensory play, manipulative play, dramatic play and construction play is offered on a daily basis.
We enjoy group times, which are teacher led and where children are encouraged to listen and participate in a rich and vibrant stories, songs, rhymes and dancing. Our mealtimes are an important social event, in which we encourage healthy eating, independence skills and most importantly, social skills and conversation.
Our outdoor play area is expansive and offers the children an opportunity for digging in the sandpit, climbing, jumping, swinging, gardening, building, social play and riding bikes.
Our Blue and Green groups finish their kindergarten day at 2pm.
For our Red and Orange groups, the afternoon continues with some quiet play, focusing on puzzles, manipulative play and small group experiences. We then head outdoors for another opportunity to play and explore before coming together for afternoon tea.
We finish the day with a final group time, providing an opportunity to come together before saying goodbye and heading home.
* We also organise incursions each term, which support our learning outcomes and scaffold our inquiry projects. We enjoy visits from the Drama Toolbox, Flying Bookworm Theatre, Henny Penny Chicken Hatching and the Melbourne Museum.
Glen Oak Kindergarten offers many welcoming and enjoyable events to the families and community. We value the friendships, celebrations and inclusion that are fostered during these special events throughout the year.
Easter & Welcome Picnic
This is always a wonderful way for the families to meet each other and “break the ice”. It is always daunting to join a new social circle and this night brings many families together.
Easter Raffle
This is always a popular fundraiser and the children all enjoy the excitement of winning a prize. Our families support this event and we appreciate their generosity and engagement.
Mother's Day Tea/Raffle
We celebrate all the significant women in our lives with a special afternoon tea and drawing of our Mother’s Day Raffle. The children are always exited to present hand-made gifts.
Father's Night
The children and men in our lives, really enjoy this evening as they get a chance to engage in a special craft activity, meet other fathers, and enjoy a supper. We also draw our Father’s Day raffle.
Grandparent's / Special Person's Day
We welcome grandparents to join us for a special activity and lovely afternoon tea. This is a wonderful event in which the children have an opportunity to show their kindergarten space.
Year-End Celebration
It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate & congratulate the children and thank their parents, community, and teaching staff for all their commitment and support over the year.
